By Paul Scicchitano

More than half of likely Republican primary voters agree with Rick Perry that Social Security is like a “Ponzi scheme.”Rick Perry, Social Security, PonziA new Wall Street Journal/NBC News poll finds that 54 percent agree that the retirement program resembles a Ponzi plot, which is fraudulent system to collect more money than it pays out. Only 41 percent disagreed.

In contrast, 64 percent of the electorate as a whole disagree with the Texas governor on Social Security, while 29 percent endorse his view.

Perry created a firestorm during the first presidential debate in which he appeared, in which he labeled the retirement program as a Ponzi scheme that offers little to young workers.

Are We Expecting Too Much of Obama?

Filed Under: Politics, Ramblings    by: Faith Sloan

From CNN:

  • Nearly two-thirds of polled Americans expect Obama to change country for better
  • Only 9 percent think Obama will change the country for the worse
  • Obama expected to stabilize markets, make U.S. safer, reduce oil dependence

The good news is that the majority of us supports Barack Obama. The good news is that we expect the world of him.

The bad news is that we expect the world of him.

Keep grounded and become a tree hugger for reality.

From Obama To You and I

Filed Under: Christianity and Religion, Politics    by: Faith Sloan

Regardless of how effective President-Elect Barack Obama will be in his tenure as the President of the United States of America, this is something we all should remember and earnestly act upon for the rest of our natural born lives.

“To those Americans whose support I have yet to earn, I may not have won your vote tonight, but I hear your voices, I need your help. And I will be your president too,” Obama said during his acceptance speech.

“This is our moment, this is our time to put our people back to work and open doors of opportunity for our kids. To restore prosperity and promote the cause of peace. To reclaim the American dream and reaffirm that fundamental truth that out of many we are one. That while we breathe we hope and where we are met with cynicism and doubt and those who tell us that we can’t…we will respond with that timeless creed that sums up the spirit of a people: Yes we can. Thank you. God Bless you and may god bless the United States of America.”

I am Back From Dominican Republic. Barack is Prez, eh?

Filed Under: Humor, Politics, Ramblings    by: Faith Sloan

Well, after spending a week in the sun, shopping, drinking, eating and laughing in the Dominican Republic, I am back in the states. Catching up with business is going to be oh so fun <sarcastic smirk>

The Dominican people were as ecstatic as I was at the prospect of Barack Obama being our new President-elect. In any case, I’ll tell ya … I would not want that job unless my predominant masochistic qualities reared its head. To fix up the mess the U.S and world economy is faced with today and some time to come, along with the Iraq war, is going to require quite some undertaking.

For those of you expecting Mr. President Obama to pull some surprise rabbit out of his hat or to suddenly become the champion of the historically underutilized and downtrodden people, I say, “WAKE UP!”

And for those of you who identifies with Obama for his youth, here is some not so new news… he is actually a baby-boomer just like this 48 years of age woman. He is 47 years of age and appears younger than his age just like me. Loving it! What babes we are! LOL!

But are we due for a change from the old guard to the new? YES!  So why not give the man an equal chance… after all isn’t that what American democracy all about?

But of course, what do I know? Just as much as the pundits know … absolutely NADA!
