Thank You Guy Kawasaki for Sending Me A Copy Of Reality Check

First of all I would like to publicly thank Mr. Guy Kawasaki for sending me a free copy of his newest publication, “Reality Check”. I met ‘da man’ back in the late 90′s early 2000′s when I was living in the Bay Area. He was very much involved in the dot com ‘era’ (i use that term very lightly).

Guy Kawasaki is a long-time popular and respected author, blogger, entrepreneur and venture capitalist.

I even remembered when he started his early stage venture capital entity, Garage.com. I am currently plugging alltop.com for him because I believe it has tremendous value. Everything flashy doesn’t guarantee success and all that is with out the bells and whistles more times than not are where the gems of data as well as information are found.

Now, I do not agree with all of Guy’s tenets in terms of entrepreneurialship, Venture Capital funding approaches, business plan development, etc. But so what? I do agree with him on quite a bit and to top it off he has a great sense of humor.

With that said,  find me an individual who believes 100% of what another believes in and I’ll show you an unthinking clone without a spine.

Check out Guy’s video below. Guy, my man …  down with ‘schwag’! I am having flashbacks. Actually I wish I had kept all of my schwag. Schwag = branding and of course that is critical and effective. So oooook, schwag is da bomb!

I have yet to read the book as I am still taking my time reading and laughing through Nassim Nicholas Taleb’s “Fooled By Randomness – The Hidden Role of Chance in Life and in the Markets”. Many find the book rather dry and scientifically intellectual. I love it! It keeps me laughing and also causes me to critically think about my own approaches and philosophy in life and in business. I studied multivariate analysis, randomness, and probability and received my B.S. in the same, but it was never as entertaining as this book.

Oh, did I digress? I had a few random thoughts emanating from my gray matter. Sorry about that. Here is the video.

Call me brilliant as I don’t believe in working hard. But if you want to reward me for hard work for my brilliant ideas, and off the chart deliverables, then come on with it, she says! And yes, Guy, I am an unpaid evangelist! You got me there.

God Bless

Esoterically Speaking … Are You Unconscious?

Filed Under: Esoteric, Ramblings, Welcome    by: Faith Sloan

“There are three terms: Exoteric~which is the outer ring; Mesoteric~which is the middle ring; and Esoteric~which is the inner ring. Each of these three levels of knowledge and life and of connection has a different center of gravity. People who live in the exoteric worlds are people whose center of gravity internally has been formed by the pressures of life around them. So what is important for them is entertainment and sports and business and looking good and whatever the current cultural values happen to be. So there is no self-chosen action in them. You can also put the word “unconscious” with that.

The middle ring is the ring of arts, music, literature and the sciences, all of which spring from the core of truths of the esoteric worlds. Because, you understand, the great musicians and the great painters have been inspired by the mysteries of life~such as the mystery of nature and the mystery of the human being~they’ve produced great music or great literature or great art. Even the scientists today, who are virtually totally intellectual, have been gripped by the unknown~which is a fact, if you follow what I’m saying. That’s the mesoteric.

Now, the esoteric is the mystery and the power and the fact of life itself. When it is described, it is described in esoteric teachings~normally using such things as numbers or symbols to describe the actual living process of life itself. The occult is life. The esoteric is the only way in which a human can translate the occult knowably because, you see, a plant is an occult fact. Now, esoterically, by understanding the laws, you can explain it. And those kinds of explanations resound in all the great works of history.

….

Now one other thing that you’ve got to understand is that people who live in the esoteric have a center of gravity which is self-chosen and is chosen against the recognition of what the human being is for. The people who live in the mesoteric are partially self-chosen and partially caused. It also says the people in ordinary life can never deal with people who are developed. What they meet are other students who are already partly on their way.”

Now for those who you who continue to point fingers at me and call me oh so esoteric. That ain’t no fighting words. Keep dem comin’!

Palin is clueless on whether Africa is a country or continent

Filed Under: Business, Christianity and Religion, Food, Humor, Politics, Social Networking, Welcome    by: Faith Sloan

I’m watching television now and saw a news clip where Palin is rather upset and states that folks took her NAFTA comments and Africa as a country or continent statements out of context.  She says that her comments about Africa regardless of it is a country or continent was taken out of context. Girlfriend! There you go again!

I just want to go on record as saying that Africa is a continent and is not a country.  It is the largest continent in the world!

She appears to still be clueless on this critical data fact even as she lashes out at those who criticized her in regards to geography.

Should I drop her a ringy-dingy? Maybe she was referring to “South Africa”…

She can always be ‘tutored’. LOL

Just thought I’d lighten up things with a tad bit of humor.
